Hi all
Just to let you know I have started my usual last minuite dash to try to be
QRV for the 3.4GHz activity weekend in June
Progress so far:-
Septum feed metalwork bent-up and ready to assemble.. yet to figure how to
mount it in front of my 2.4m dish
Choke ring planned but not made yet
Dish actuators are working after a long period of inactivity.
Transverter and terrestrial equipment proven and working OK .... 500km +
QSOs on 15w with 80cm dish, via aircraft scatter
At present my equipment runs 15W and nf is about 1.5dB.
I have a 30w + Matra PA and better preamp built, but not assembled. I hope
to place these at the dish.
if worst comes to the worst, I should be able to work the big guns on 15W.
At the moment I am limited to 3400 only. If time permits an alternative
receive converter may be possible, (maybe a simple filter and 56MHz
oscillator + mixer after the preamp..?) though with the timescales, I will
be concentrating on higher power at 3400, and getting a working system.
I have a limited moon window, which will prevent me from having a common
moon window with VK or similar.
How many active stations out there can only TX on 3456?
For the future I have a Toshiba PA that will increase the signal more.
Regards
