Hello,
last year's 3.4GHz activity was my start into 9cm world, when I listened to some signals using a C-Band-LNB. This year I was happy to participate by myself. That activity weekend really made the band interesting for me. Thanks to Peter, G3LTF, for organizing!
Unfortunately I was not able to spend as much time as wanted at the radio, because of baby sitting and some family affairs. So the time for the QSOs was mostly stolen ;-)
So on saturday
VK3NX heard 549, left him go in order to save time,
LX1DB was heard fine 559 at the beginning of sked but it seems that exactly here his problems started
OK1CA worked 559/539
OK1KIR worked 559/549
Sunday I worked
G3LTF 549/549 who was playing around with echos somewhere on .100
"you know whom" worked 559/559
VE4MA worked RO/O
VE6TA heard with a fine O copy at the beginning, then degrading to M, but no report received
W5LUA heard ufb, but left going in order to save time
GM4ISM heard 3dB above noise, too less to copy CW
WW2R heard nil (but should have copied if his power and dish is as stated), in sked wrong sequence
PA0BAT copied on Saturday with M to O but no QSO
My 3400MHz head is not waterproof, but covering it with a waste bag did its job against the heavy rain that we had during the nights. Just that on sunday afternoon the wind blew away the cover of the PA power supply, and it did not switch on any more. I dryed it in the kitchen oven at 70°C and see, it worked again.
3400 is done with G8ACE oven, G4DDK multiplier, DB6NT Rev. 1 transverter, Toshiba PA 50W directly into round septum polarizer horn with chapperal rings. Preamp is DJ9BV with FHX35. RX is missing, since my sun noise rarely reaches 10dB. Either the preamp is ugly, or the horn not matching to my dish.
73, Günter, DL4MEA
