Last night I found that one of my 2m RF switched GaAsfet preamps was out of commission, so I tried without it. I got ready this AM assembling my single 5WL yagi after cleaning out the bees nest in the mating sections. Drilled a hole in the mast on my van to make a simple az-el hand directed mount using a 1/4" bolt. Max elevation is about 50 degrees as the mast is only 12' high. Rainy conditions at 1530z and nothing heard until a partial at 1551z on 144.047. After not hearing much, I added a cavity LNA at the antenna and heard several partial QSOs between 1703 and 1742 from 144.041-.049, but unable to catch a full call. Since I did not have an additional circuit to bypass the LNA, I listened only after putting that in line. Sun came out by 1830. I hope that I will be ready also with 100W,  single 7WL yagi az/el and GaAsfet preamp in 3 weeks for Dubus 432 event. 73, Rick, K1DS   single yagi + 350W
