[Moon-net] 5500 ROTATORS FOR EME ELEVATION

Hello all......not sure if this solution has been mentioned...but just in case......

I have used the 5500 for EME purposes, and I slowed mine down using a 555 timer  and a transistor to switch the common   line  in "pulses".  The circuit is in the "VHF-UHF DX BOOK"  and works exceptionally well.  The advantage with this arrangement is the motor always sees the full voltage and so is "less stressful" on the motor  than other arrangements which reduce voltage .  The circuit is easily adaptable to AC or DC motors.  I built the board  and placed it in the rotator controller and a back panel switch  selects it in line or not.
The rotator can be slowed to "less" than a crawl.
