As I am putting together my setup for portable EME since I can't do
permanent, I think I have finally decided on an antenna that I will
build. I see alot of people have built (or bought the WIMO) DK7ZB 9 el
long yagi. I certainly prefer to build versus buy wherever I can... not
only cheaper, it's nicer to know you've built something that works with
your own hands.
Anyways, It looks as though if I build 4 of these I'll have pretty good
results. They'll be easy to store and probably easy to make. I do have
a bunch of questions since I've never really made a yagi before.
1. I have a bunch of 1/8" aluminum rod that I would like to use as the
reflector and driven elements. I have enough to make all four, heck
probably even a spare.. Will this work ok? The only bandwidth I really
care about is the range of frequencies for EME.
2. Would I use something such as an M2 4 port power divider with this?
(I still have alot to learn about tying four of these together)
3. I assume I will be using all or mostly aluminum construction. If I
am using 1/8" aluminum rod as the directors and reflectors, what is the
best way to attach them to the boom? I'm not quite sure of the boom
diameter, I would use whatever is the best size
4. I noticed in many of the pics of this antenna there seems to be some
sort of support to help keep the boom straight and level. How is this
constructed? Is it just scrap aluminum tubing with the ends
flattened/drilled affixed to the boom/mast by a few bolts? Or is there
a better way?
Ok that's enough questions to start for now... thank you in advance :)

James KB2FCV
