Hello Sven & all
About assisted category: During DUBUS & ARRL EME 2006/2007 contest I was running in my personal half-random category.
What was is? I was at N0UK & ON4KST EME Chat in "RXing" mode. So I wasn't talking JUST watching. So if I saw
that for example EA6VQ is calling cq on .139, I qsy on .139, decoded him and start calling. So Gabriel saw,
that something is calling him but he didn't know who is it and then he decoded EA6VQ OK1TEH JO70. I think
that was the "digital RANDOM qso". Was any data of qso's changed via internet? No. Did he know who will be calling? No.
Just one problem, that I saw his calling frequency on the i-net so I I marked my log in Assisted category.
Of course you can take a part in not-assisted digital category thanks to MAP65 with 100% random operation, thanks Joe.
(btw. ..and I never saw any problem in this situation with new DeepSearch mode in the last version of WSJT with signal better then -30dB, of course version 4.98 is absolutly different story. This I say with more then 80 half-random digital qso's in my log.
I'm running on my PC with single sound card with WSJT 5.96 or 5.98 and 4.98 together.)
What I don't like are new rules for ARRL EME contest when is legal to chatting on the chat before the qso and it's
marked as a valid one.
My proposal for discussion:
How about to use assisted category where isn't allowed 2way chatting? (I think like it was in ARRL contest 2 years ago).
How about put into N0UK EME chat history review like it's in ON4KST chat for contest evaluaters?
We have 2 periods of ARRL EME contest. How about to split digital and anolog weekends (for 2m/70cm -> similar to Dubus
contest).
How about to make some 5-10kHz wide segment (for example on 144.140-144.150) for random calling in JT65 like it's
with FSK441 on 144.370? (I think it should be more then 1kHz because of different kind of MS and EME operation )
And more: how about to make new band segments for EU-AS contacts (JA stations can't call in JT65 above 144.100
so EU stations have to work them via split). Maybe we would extend digital segment down to 144.090 MHz.
I took part in several CW EME contests and 99,9% of activity is in segment of 144.030 - 144.060 MHz...

PS: Somebody was talking about new RSGB contest rules as there isn't allowed to make a sked on the chat on 2m/70cm.
(it's allowed on 23cm - up) I think that's a good idea.
