Hi James,

welcome to the list :)

I'm in a similar situation to you, and these days I'm only (and rarely) active on 2m EME with a portable setup. You can get some idea of what I use at http://www.pocketrainbow.co.uk/gallery2/v/G4PCS/ . There are images, and also a few sound clips to give you an idea of what you might hear. I wouldn't necessarily recommend you do things the same way I did (I used what I had available, and did a few things just "to see if I could"), but it may give you ideas. I was inspired by Chris PA2CHR and would recommend you take a look at his website too, at http://home.planet.nl/~pa2chr/index.htm .

However you choose to proceed, I wish you the best of luck!

73, Mark G4PCS

PS Apologies to those awaiting QSLs, I have had far more important things to deal with recently than my radio hobby, but they are NOT forgotten - please be patient...

Subject: [Moon-net] Hi, I'm new here

Hello,
I found this list while searching for EME stuff. My name is James
KB2FCV. QTH here is Summit, NJ. I am very interested in putting
together a portable setup for 2M EME (I don't have room/permission for
anything at my condo). I've been researching antenna designs, coax,
rotators, pre-amps, amps, modes, all sorts of stuff! I am planning on
building the antenna and eventually an amp (I have several amps
available to me to borrow). Right now I am focusing on the antenna..
one of the most important parts! I just wanted to introduce myself to
this list and hope people don't mind the barrage of questions I may
have down the road as I'm very new to EME. 73, James KB2FCV
