Hello Charlie, IS THIS THE BEST WAY TO OPERATE around the X band solution? I would say YES it is, certainly for the 2320 operators. Its taken quite a few years to get it established but before we had it it was very hard for the stations who cannot operate on 2304 ( where the majority of stations are) to get QSOs. It has the benefit also of spreading the activity away from the .100 spot and, personally speaking, I think you and Trevor VK4AFL did exactly the right thing in choosing a couple of frequencies, well apart , at the top end of your allocation.
Cross band eme is not that easy but like everything you get more used to it as you use it more. Its really good to have the interest from VK on 13 and 9.
Even though its 25-30 years since I first worked VK on microwaves I still get a big thrill when I hear you guys coming through with the dish pointing more or less at the horizon!

  Hello all,
another very entertaining weekend has gone and I had a ball!
The turnout seemed very good and signals were excellent with bad Wx staying away at my QTH.

1 thing that was highlighted to me was the difficulty in X-band QSOs on 13cm. I think a lot was due to my errors. I am very sorry to the stations that CWNR from me. I made the error in announcing that I would listen on 2304.1 and 2320.1. A couple of operators have explained a much more appropriate method and I would appreciate the collective wisdom on this.

In the future when calling on 2301.9** I will listen on 2304.0** and 2320.0** and 2424.0** +/- the appropriate doppler. (of course QRGs would be announced for SKEDS)

IS THIS THE BEST WAY TO OPERATE around the X band solution? Please gentlemen ( and ladies) your input......

My list of stations for the WE:

  12th on 13cm WKD--- W5LUA WA6PY VE6TA VK4AFL JA4BLC JA8ERE OK1KIR OK1CA ES5PC G3LTF SD3F#
  CWNR- OZ4MM F2TU

  13th on 9cm WKD -- W5LUA OK1CA DL4MEA# G3LTF

I know there were many others that called.....

Overall I am pleased with the performance of the station, I just need to get better at the random X-band scenario!

I am looking forward to the AW in June on 9cm. I should be QRV and hope to work a few stations.

If anyone would like a sked on any band (13cm - 3cm) please drop me an email.

  73 Charlie VK3NX
