Hello Gerard,
My tracking software reads and converts gray encoders (free and available on
my web site).
Else it is relatively easy to convert Gray code to Binary code with a few
XOR circuit.
http://mechatronics.mech.northwestern.edu/design_ref/sensors/encoders.html
or search "convert gray to binary" on the web.
You don't need any PROM.
Best 73.
