Hi,
as a participant in the last five ARRL EME contests, I think that the rules employed for the 2007 contest were basically good.
My mother language is not english, so I probably read them a couple of times in order to be sure of the meaning, but they were not difficult or misleading.
I am also favourable to have many classes, everybody participates primarily for amusement but achieving a good classification is rewarding and many classes favour this. In addition, within the class in which one participates, the other contestants are homogeneous with your way of contesting, so scores are more comparable.
I see that you got only 184 logs. My score in a single band(144) was 224 qsos, so I suppose that much much more stations participated. The low percentage of returned logs could be due to the restrictions to assistance, I believe that many liked having a day full of qsos with the use of assistance, but could not send in their log.
Since assistance is a separate class, I do not see why it should be eliminated as some are asking. Viceversa I suggest that you admit assistance also for the single operators.
Looking forward to next winter's contest, good work from Giorgio IK1UWL
