All
I can confirm that `apt-get` (or Synaptic Package Manager method)
worked quite well in Ubuntu 7.04 [Feisty Fawn].
Having upgraded to Ubuntu 7.10 [Gutsy Gibbon] (and updated packages
since)
WSJT broke:
{... line 10 in <module> ... import Audio ... Import error: No module
named Audio}
and no manner of re-installation from the deb packages wants
to make it right again.
I have more core dumps than a cider-maker!
This is a pity as I would like to include it on my Ham-Radio-centric
bootable USB pen-drive Ubuntu (7.10) but I just can't get it stable.

You do not need fftw3 and fftw3-dev

./configure is enough. All options except --enable-portaudio were
rejected long time ago.

I suggest: python -O wsjt.py for best performance. O is capital o.

Thank you very much for help how to compile WSJT under Ubuntu. If you do
not mind I will put it on my page. I have HowTo compile under Mandrake
and Fedora. Ubuntu is popular distro, so Ubunto HowTo will be helpfull.
