I am very sorry to hear that Kjell SM7BAE passed away. I heard him off the
Moon for the first time 1981 using two 19 el CC yagis. Later we QSO'd many
times. Kjell made first in history EME QSO for Poland on May 5, 1984 with
Mike SP5CJT. Mike visited Kjell two times, one time during one of the ARRL
EME contests and he was very impresed that Kjell copied EME signals on loud
speaker. I visited Kjell in his farm near Lund many times traveling by car
to the continent. Kjell developed very efficient own antennas for EME long
time before EME community started to use computer simulations and
optimalizations. He was real pioneer of EME and weak signal communications.
We met few times on Scandinavian VHF/UHF Metings and EME Conference in
Goetenburg. We also QSO'd when I moved to San Diego first time with single
yagi and later with two yagis.
RIP Kjell
Paul WA6PY, SM0PYP
