What a day! Mike and I got up at dawn after getting a little sleep after the 48 hour CQWW DX CW contest. We ran short-handed in the contest this year since one of the ops was unable to make it. Thus, we each had to put more time in the chair than originally planned. On Monday AM, we got up and tore down and packed the entire HF system and then started building the EME station. Either of those activities would be enough in this African heat and humidity. But after 13 hours of labor out in the sun and just as the moon rose, we got the EME station to work. So, then the day really started.
Our first signal heard was DL8YHR, which was a real thrill. Signals were tremendous but we did not complete with Frank at that time. First station logged was PA0JMV. Congratulations Joop! We had no Internet at the time, so we operated to our published plan and it was good to see the pileups all there for us. Mike and I were elated at how many signals we were copying and how well we were completing contacts.
Here is the stations worked so far (in order in the log). Current tally is 42:
PA0JMV, DF2ZC, OZ1LPR, YO9FRJ, DK3EE, PA3CMC, DL8YHR, CT1HZE, 7K3LGC, S52LM, DL7FF, PE1L, DK5YA, RA3AQ, IK1UWL, RA6DA, I1ANP, F6HVK, I2RV, KB8RQ, K9MRI, DL8GP, SM5CUI, UA9YLU, RV3IG, W5UN, WQ5S, K6MYC, DK3WG, W7IUV, WA4NJP, F6BKI, F9HS, K7MAC, OH7PI, PE1BT, PA3CWN,K9CT, HA6NQ, F6FHP, DL1RWN, EA2AGZ, W7MEM, SM5CFS, OM3BC, and ES6RQ.
We copied and called many other callsigns but failed to complete. Please try again. We will be on for three more lunar days moonrise to moonset.
Our schedule tonight starts at 22Z. We will start in the JA window and operate JT65b simplex on 144084. We are looking primarily for JA but will work anyone if none are seen. At 0045Z (Wednedsay), we will QSY to 144149 and work JT65b there until 05Z. At 05Z, we will QSY to 144045 and operate CW until 0700Z. We will transmit on even minutes and receive on odd minutes. At 07Z , we will QSY back to 144149 and operate JT65b until moonset. We will be on-line for the rest of the operation an dwill be on N0UK's site.
Good luck to all. Off to take a nap and get ready for tonight.
