Hello All,
I can only confirm Udo's statement as I have the same head-phones. It is
highly recommended!!!
My noise cancelling headphones I also have did not perform in the shack, I
now only use it on air travel where it performs o.k.

You have to know that I sit just beside the TH347 Plisch amp. This headset
promises 13dB attenuation of the surrounding noise, and I must admit that
never before I was able to carry the headset without any additional help as
rubber bands for increasing the pressure.

even promise 26dB of attenuation. That one is $99.

in Germany (Europe?) is about twice as much as in the States. Have a look
for example in Amazon.com I am desperatly looking for someone who would
travel from the States to DL in order to bring me one HD280...

Using my HD280 Pro for many years now I must say that this nice little piece
is doing a great job (32dB noise reduction, says Sennheiser)!
Russian tank blower of my GS35b is right beside me and without my HD280 I'd
be deaf like a doornail. My opinion: highly recommended! No active noise
cancelling system, no external power needed (like Heil system, eating
batteries...).
