All,
thank you for the responses and info, last night I sat done with the
soldering iron while the wife was watching her programs and did the
following..
1, Make a cable for my interface to the mic input
this was successful and managed to get the system up and running
on VOX, but having vox set on it clicked my radio into xmt randonly, I
played with the VOX settings to try and stop this and managed to get
working solution with vox gain set to about 5, anti vox set about 80 -
"still playing with this"
2, I rewired my ACC1 and ACC2 plugs together to enable xmt on HF and VHF
but still could not get the radio to xmit on the RTS side of the comm
port, I'll test the radio but I think that the switch should be ok,
since I've had a pk232 connected via this method.
so I'm going to get hold of a rs232 monitor to see if the rts is being
raised properly, since I cannot see that the key light on the interface
is being rasied..
3, using ham radio deluxe and psk31 works fine by the CI-V interface.
FYI I have a g4zlp interface unit.
again thanks all for your help..
Michael Lynn

Michael,
I'll answer the IC question,
The IC-746 has two PTT lines via the back ACC connectors. One is for
HF/6M and the other is for 2M. I would suspect you are trying to
communicate with the 746 via the HF side. Check the manual for the
pinout on the 2M accessory socket (I don't have my manual readily
available).
