If you have not gained sufficient familiarity with WSJT to use the
optional decoder features effectively, just turn them off. There is
little reason for you to be using them, anyway, with your FB station.
A JT65 plain-text message is truncated for only one reason: if the
transmitting operator tries to send a message with more than 13
characters, only the first 13 will be sent.

Certainly not. If you want to gain better understanding of how the JT65
decoder works, and to have clear answers to the questions you pose, your
best course of action is -- yes, to read the documentation -- and then
make tests for yourself. I have made this easy for anyone to do, under
carefully controlled conditions, by using one of these options:
1. The stand-alone simulator program SimJT.exe
2. The "simulator mode" built into all recent versions of WSJT.
