You enjoyed your computer, you are not interested in the size of the antenna nor it's signal at yours. You watch a screen and probably see a callsign out of a database. Fine, - to me that is no qso. All rubish to discuss this further, - how right you are!
regards or 73

Right,
Lets get down to the " nitty gritty "
Here is an example
JT65B or Digital EME Mode
G4HGI copies a station using JT65B who he see's on on4kst N0UK or cluster
" 144125 (call) CLG CQ JT65B "
The other station comes back to G4HGI with both calls and the report ( if I'm lucky with my pip squeak station)
G4HGI responds with RO report
The other station replies with RRRR
G4HGI copies this and replies with 73 73 although the qso is complete anyway.
So
Is that a complete qso or not ??
Clearly the receiving station would not know my call at all because I have not typed anything on the aforementioned cluster, KST or N0UK
or had any other communication with him other than the reply to his CQ.
But his station copied my call - yes I restrained from saying " He " copied the call
because he didn't actually hear it with his ears and decoded it with his brain the computer / software did it.
So we are left with the problem of .. well yes the 2 stations did make a qso or they didn't.
Can somebody tell me if I did make a qso or not ?
I am not interested how big your antenna is or how much power you are running only whether I have made a valid qso.
There is no intention in getting into the CW - v - JT argument that seems to rage on and on filling everybody's Inboxes with rubbish.
I hope I have posed a constructive question and not any attempt to " flame things up " and hope to get some un biased views on this
as there seems to be some very very strong feelings on both sides of the fence !!!
Thank you and best 73 to all
Richard G4HGI
