Hello,

here the outcome of my mini-survey:

I received in total 8 mails resp. infos.

Three mentioned that their GS35 failed after a short while, reason
unknown.

Five informed me about service since years, no detoriaton etc.
Typical statement is:
So long the tube is operated within the specs, the GS35 is nearly
indistructable....
(We say in german unkaputtbar..)

One interesting comment from Mike, KL6M:

quote "K1FO and N8CQ recent theory is that most folks do not bother to
neutralize the tube
which can result in operating conditions that will reduce the life of the
tube. And:
The method K1FO suggested to neutralize is to install the tube by mounting
the
grid ring in finger stock, and removing some of the fingers.
Which fingers to remove I do not recall, and it varies depending on the
design frequency
of the amplifier." unquote

Many thanks for all the mails and infos,
