Hi Erwin,
I alway apply the following three-step procedure on new or "long time not
used" tubes:
1) 1 hour with heather only (blower on!)
2) 24 hours with heather on and HV via a 15 K resistor
4) 1 hour with heather an HV on and let idle current (80-100 mA) flow.
After that your tube is ready!
One warning though; check your inrush current to the filament! I have lost
one tube due to high inrush currents. Mind you, the filament is only 1 Ohm
in cold condition...

Hi all,
my GS35b tube gave up and I have to build in a new one.
Does anyone have much experience how to prepare the tube ?
I read much of it but all are meanings:
- temper the tube in a ofen at 60-70 degrees for some hours
- make vakuum in a glass zylinder for some hours
- burn it in the Amp with only heating up to a day
I guess all of this procedure is to get the arc out of the ceramic.
Please send me your comments.
