[Moon-net] one-way propagation

Hi all,

Changing polarity sometimes overcomes "one way propagation", but many times does not. I have used polarity rotation for more than a year. I can rotate my entire array from 0 degrees (horizontal) to 90 degrees (vertical), and any angle in between. As you might expect the best reception can occur many angles. I can only match a bit more than 90 degrees, so often no match can occur.

Many times I can hear well regardless of polarity for an hour or so then I will hear nothing at all for an hour. When I hear nothing I assume I cannot match polarity.

I notice many times the polarity of signals from Europe and North America are completely opposite. DL8GP, on 2 meters, often CQs alternating polarity one minute to the next. It is very interesting to watch his signal level and move my polarity on receive to match his transmissions. It is the fantasy of EME to see a nil signal come 15 dB above the noise simply by changing the polarity of your antennas.

After checking the log for the last year I have 11 EME contacts where I have noted my TX and Rx polarity were different. Those were probably "one way propagation" conditions.
