Hello all,
as this subject is interesting for many of use who purchased a big
tube that was on the shelf for a long time...

You did the right job sofar so now it's time to apply HV.
As you don't know anything about the condition of your tube you have
to be aware of arcing in your tube so it's a very good idea to put a
50 to 100 kOhm resistor in the HV. Start with about 40% of the HV for
two hours, 50 % for two hours, 60% for two hours and so on. When the
tube is very old, leave it on for a full day. Replace the reststor for
a smaller one (1 kOhm or so) and leave it on again for some hours.
This way you will have a good temperature in your shack for a least a
day or so hi....
