[Moon-net] ALL: Burn in a filament

Hello Kim,
It is my understanding that the "Getter" effect you are looking for is not
created by the hot filament, but rather a hot Plate, one that shows color
due to significant current flow. The hot plate, has a coating that when
hot, ( The dull brownish or grayish coating on the outside of the plate.)
"Gets" the oxygen from the free space in the tube by combining with the
plate material... but I may be wrong...
As I remember, lighting the filament, without plate voltage/current can help
revive a thoriated filament (Like the 4-1000A) by increasing the filament
emission by raising to the surface of the filament, the thorium component,
and making for more available emission of electrons.
