[Moon-net] All:Prices in UK-ham stores

It is cheaper to have a holiday in Europe and buy radio equipment than it is
to buy in the UK.
Mind you the XYL then knows what you have bought, so it could end up more
expensive in changing kitchens and decorating.
Seriously though, the prices are very high. It seems that the UK emporiums
work on the principle of $1 = £1 and then complain when you ask for a
discount when you buy several items. We now have only three major groups
selling to the amateur market, with quite a few smaller shops trying to
compete.
We did have a small shop trying to compete with the 'big boys' but they
stopped trading as the big boys undercut them until they stopped trading,
and then oh what a surprise, the prices went back up again.
