I now have my 9cm system working with my 6m dish and circular polarisation using a square septum with a choke and the performance is as follows.
Sun noise with SF=79 is14.7 dB about 0.5dB less that with my linear feed. Moon noise at apogee 1dB
Power at feed is 30W, echoes are about 7dB over noise on the audio meter with 500 Hz IF bandwidth
I can operate on either 3400 or 3456 MHz. I am using the same scheme as I do on 13cm , that is to convert the IF and use a single LO. ( 144 for 3400 MHz and 200 Mhz for 3456MHz.)
My signals were heard today by G3LQR and I could just detect him with an estimated 12W at his end.
There are a few tidying up jobs to do and I am hoping to gain another 0.5dB from some more work on the dishbut essentially I am ready for the activity weekend.
There does not seem to be a lot of Eu interest so far judging by the latest sked list, I hope this will increase.
