Chris,

You could find helpful almost any program that is tracking man-made satellites to also predict sun/moon position. May I suggest you:

http://www.stoff.pl/

Then in a next step you might perhaps use a more sophisticated tracking program for EME such as JJ's F1EHN (go google it), tracking software and HW.

Any how if you live in USA it would be tough to see the moon towards north, unless you mean that you can still see it from the side of your home facing north when the moon it is at high elevation. I believe this is what you meant.

I believe that with your setup you shall be successfully able to operate JT65 and have qsos also considering that in 2 meters it is the mainly used system. Google for JT65 if you don't have an idea of what it is.

Subject: [Moon-net] Newbie question

OK folks - I am new and have never tried this mode. If I cannot hear anyone
- then there is not much sense in sending anything (CQ). So, I need to start
somewhere.

How can I check ahead of time to see if the moon is visible at my location
to try EME? Is there a computer program? I can only see the moon if it is to
the north, east or west - as my antenna is on the north side of my house and
is not above my roof line. I have a clear unobstructed view of all other
locations (i.e. N,E, & W)

I have a Cushcraft 20 element antenna for 2 meters - with azimuth and
elevation capability. (I used it for satellite operations) It is part of an
AOP-1 2 meter / 440 antenna. I just purchased a 160 watt linear and it has
a GasFet preamp.

At this point - I just want to try listening.

Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Thanks & 73
