Hello all,
great to be on 3.4 GHz on the weekend.
It's a pity quite a few stations don't have a window to me here in VK!
Nonetheless I had very good results with the new feed.
The new feed is a scaled version of "RA3AQ's stepped septum optimised for f/d 0.39-0.4 GHz " orginally for 1296.
Compared with the previous "screw polariser" I am getting much better dish efficiency, circularity and the RL and Isolation figures are excellent. Consequently I have gone from echoes barely perceptible to echoes very loud: > 10dB above the noise (according to spectran)
I will be staying with this feed and I will now build a scaled version for 2.3 as I look to get on this band very soon. in time I will try versions for 5.7 GHz and compare it with my Screw polariser ( which already works well on this band)
If all works OK then I will try it on 10 Ghz.
My reports on 3.4 GHz showed a VAST improvement over last activity weekend, although moon condx were the same ( if not slightly worse).
Wkd......... G3LTF 529/549 , OK1KIR #5 O/O , LX1DB 559 /559 and SSB ,
I tried with N9JIM.......Nil heard ( problems for them on 3400)
Tried WW2R........partial copy my way, Dave reports hearing me well.
I will keep the 3.4 GHz feed in place for a while, so if anyone wants to try with me then please let me know.
AND....If anyone can sort out a window to VK from those that presently cannot, feel free to do so ...Hi Hi
