Btw, in the last 5-6 yrs we have had at least >40 EME 2m dxpeditions, of
which 90% at least were done by mixed stations. However, ONLY 2 worked
cw....so i send the question back to you if i am allowed to, and wonder if
mixed stations are free of this prerequisite or not (as u asked).
At least if they are, they should not be announcing cw also, but only doing
jt65.....as all unfortunately do (at least on 2m).
Dear Jimmy and all,
First of all my opinion is that everybody who goes somewhere is free to
choose the mode he wants. The dxpeditioner sets the rules. Neither mode or
working both modes is mandatory. Sure, I also understand that CW only
stations are disappointed with the little or nonexisting CW activity in
recent dxpeditions.
However, I can't let your comment above stand without response by me: I take
the liberty to say I am an experienced EME operator in both CW and JT65 as
is my friend Frank DH7FB. We communicated a special CW calling frequency
during our recent activity from ZB2. This meant an additional "stress"
watching various frequencies for callers. Only...zero CW stations called us.
I'm certain we would have copied them and switched to CW mode in case of
such a call. Not even you invested some time in trying to work us. Later in
a private email you wrote to me CW station's standards are they don't call
in during such a "mixed" operation but they want a dedicated time slot. I
have little understanding for such an attitude but so be it. However, I have
even less understanding for your complaint about ALL(!) dxpeditions that
communicated they'd also work CW but then didn't. We would have enjoyed some
CW QSOs for sure.
I wish Wolfgang the best of success in 1A0 and I'm certain he is the best
qualified person to do this EME activity from there. I won't call him
though. Sure I'd like to work that rare DXCC also on EME but since I worked
it on meteorscatter already I don't want to steal time from others.
