Hi Josep
Thank you for the FB EME QSO late last night in DUBUS 2m activity event. You
were a solid 549 with me, fantastic signal! Hope to work u again tonight /
tomorrow on the 70cm event, as we did last month.
>From what we all know Wolfgang DL5MAE is working cw only, all his eme path
for so many years. At his home qth as well as in all his vy successful EME &
MS dxpeditions from 1990 until today. I do not think it is questionable for
someone to be faithful to his beliefs of what EME really means to him.
Btw, in the last 5-6 yrs we have had at least >40 EME 2m dxpeditions, of
which 90% at least were done by mixed stations. However, ONLY 2 worked
cw....so i send the question back to you if i am allowed to, and wonder if
mixed stations are free of this prerequisite or not (as u asked).
At least if they are, they should not be announcing cw also, but only doing
jt65.....as all unfortunately do (at least on 2m).
1A0KM announces CW and at least the EME operator (DL5MAE) will honor his
commitment in that mode. Not announce both, and do cw only :-(
In my view, it would be best if all dxpeditions worked all modes with
specific times allocated for each mode; I suppose this could somehow start
with the mixed ops who being experienced enough, travel around the world to
give joy & excitement to our EME colleagues.
If this had really happened in the last 5-6 yrs i do believe that eventually
even those dxpeditions being jt65 or cw only, would become mixed with
presence of ops familiar / faithful to both modes:-) And anyone would have
the ability to choose the mode he likes and deserve the QSO value each one
perceives as significant.
Until this happens, let us enjoy what we can, you are a very good mixed
station and can work 1A0KM (2*10m long yagis and 8877) on 2m cw eme also:-)
73,
Jimmy SV1BTR
