Moonnet de PA2DW,

I have noticed that there are two major causes for the phenomenon described
and well recognised at PA2DW....

1. Corrosion of the aluminium elements of the antenna. I live 5 km from the
Northsea coast, so my antennas have a short life hi! Especially the problem
affects the receive side and Leif has published interesting things about it
on his Web-site. But the current antenna I am using (32JXX2 made by I0JXX)
is made of anodized aluminium and that sure makes a big difference!

2. Condense of even worse: water, in the feedline. Especially cable with
airspace (Aircom, H100 etc.) is subject to this problem and it is a definite
killer for weak signal work! I started using Ecoflex 15 and can recommend
that. Otherwise the advises Ed KL7UW gave, on sealing the connectors, are to
be taken by heart!

P.s. Only worked IK3MAC this CW activity weekend.
