Hi Steve, don't be afraid of shut down all the eme- Hams of the world! Think about physics and the field intensity in a distance of about 500 km. That's the minimum distance between our antennas and the ISS! In the times of MIR we made some FM-QSO's with the station and all the hams turned up the wheels of their PA's and called all together. Nothing happend! So I would think it's a good idea because there are some great defiances for the operators: controlling the doppler-shift, rotator controlling and listening for weak signals in CW. Anyway it's possible as DF2ZC and me demonstrated yesterday and today. Ham radio is also looking for new adventures and checking out the frontiers in my opinion. So ISS communication is a good idea!!!
