If you get a Craftsmen Club card, Sears has torpedo level size digital levels with a nice LCD read-out. The sensor appears to be separately wired to a little PCB that has a ribbon connector to the display board and pic chip. A little cell appears to keep the memory going. There is also a temperature sensor that gets read for two seconds following power up. There are only four or five conductors going to the sensor chip. The display is powered by two AAA batteries. Seems like a nice way to go for altitude. I am going to work a right angle drive and use it for azimuth. The zero degrees point can be set at any angle with a push-button. There is also a greater than/less than zero mark on the display and the display automatically turns upside down if the level is upside down ie catawhumpus logic.
John the elder.
