Incidentally - I had posted a question about a 48 volt 57 amp compaq proliant supply a few weeks ago - with no reply.

To answer my own question: I found that this is in fact an Astec supply essentially identical to model HPS3KW which can also be found on the Astec web site.

I now have 5 of these supplies from eBay and they all make 50+ amperes at 51 volts with no effort at all.

To make them work you need to jumper the PSON and PSKILL pins to the 5 volt return. The pin locations are shown in the datasheet. There is also a load sharing function.
