Boy, the last few weeks sure have been exciting, and I am really looking
forward to this next weekend (August 11/12) :-) When good 6m EME cndx
line up with a convenient time of day for moonset in Europe, there is
the possibility of some very exciting new contacts! But I digress...

On July 14 I was very pleased to complete with OX2A in GP47. Bo was
using a 6M7JHV at that location and was -24 dB during our contact. Then
we again worked when he was in GP36 using the call OX3LX and a 6M5X
yagi. No new country, but new grids and contacts on EME. Bo's ACOM
1000 and short feedline really does the trick.

On July 15, I completed easily with K7BV when he was operating as V36M
with a 6M7JHV - which was elevated 30 degrees at the time! Dennis also
was using his ACOM 1000, which certainly helps explain his success on
EME. That is such a well-proven DXpedition setup! Belize was not a new
DXCC for me, but it WAS the first time I had contacted anyone there on
6m EME ;-)

Then on August 1, I was fortunate enough to contact OK1TEH on his
DXpedition over to OM3RCC. That one was a new one for me, and also the
first 6m EME from OM. Matej only had QRP and a 5 element I0QXX yagi,
but we were successful anyway - in large part to his very short feedline
and the beautiful clear field that his antenna looked out over toward
the moonset. It turned out to be just the ticket for good ground gain.
And of course a low degredation factor that day did not hurt a bit
either ;-)

On August 4, I was very pleased to contact DL8YHR from D44TD. Frank was
running a 6M7JHV and 500w, and was my 6m DXCC #117 (and my DXCC #65
worked by 6m EME). I am beginning to think the goal of "cleaning up" my
6m DXCC to have 100 stations worked by EME actually IS an achievable
goal after all!

In between those DXpedition contacts, I was very pleased to also
complete with N8OC, G1OAR, G5WQ, G4PCI, N5BLZ, K4PI and N8CJK. There is
only one thing to say about the bottom of the sunspot cycle on 6m - You
gotta love it! Now that the geomagnetic field is mostly quiet, this is
the BEST time for 6m EME, which is why so many people are gearing up for
it now. And of course that aluminum will prove very effective during
the next F2 season, too ;-)

Many thanks to all of you who have contributed so much to the huge
increase in 6m EME activity, and to you others - I hope to see you off
the moon on 6m soon! GL and DX! 73, Lance
