Hi,
just to tell you a story...
I am working for software development, in special we are building a unit which basically receives IQ data and transmits them in UMTS or WIMAX area, say the 2.1GHz area or even above. I am not doing the RF part but the operating system and also somehow the first SW bringup.
Well, the first thing you do when you start with a new operating system is making a LED flashing and a serial console working. In order to differ from other flashing sequences, I sent am morse code sequence for the name of the operating system to one LED that is "unused" within the rest. With a later version of the board, this pin changed its functionality in order to reset the RF part.
What happened? A colleague from the RF just called and complained about that his IQ-generated RF is "flashing". Well, I told her that this is not totally true but that I am modulating it additionally with morse code. And later, just for fun, she really got it decoded on the 2.1GHz RF side. So, latest technology of modulation combined with the oldest of all. Smile. I shall try to get one for 2.3GHz :-)
