Hello everyone,
I've been licensed since '75, got my General in '77, spent much of my
time chasing DX on 20m CW...but been quite inactive for many years. I'm
getting back into Ham Radio by (no laughing!) doing QRP mobile. Despite
the bottom of the sunspot cycle, I've managed 20m SSB contacts @ 5w from
Ariz. to Romania to Canada to Jamaica.
A recent message to the WSJT Yahoo Group prompted me to investigate the
possibility of getting into EME. (A video on YouTube of some teacher at
a school doing EME with the same Yaesu FT-817 as I have was inspiring.
Yes, I know 5w won't get me there but the fact it was their starting
point was enough to prompt me to subscribe to this list.)
Space is limited ("storage", that is! HiHi), funds are rather limited,
I'm already trying to work DX with probably the least effective method
so patience isn't a problem.
If someone would kindly e-mail me, offlist if you wish, with ideas to
get started, I'd be very grateful! Pointing me to websites is good too.
I'm not bent on using my '817 as a starting point but whatever works
okay for EME should be "reasonable" (a vague term, at best). I'd
_really_ like to have something I can transport in my Subaru Outback
wagon. A permanent installation where I'm staying isn't practical.
Many, many thanks in advance!
