Jerry and Ken:

Interesting. I was a sat-TV dealer in the late 1980's and remember well
the "gold ring" as we used it on Winegard 10-foot TVRO dishes (F/d ~ 0.37).

I have two of the Chapparal 11-GHz 3-ring "scalar" feeds and plan to use
one on my 8-foot ku-band dish (f/d=.375) for 10-GHz eme someday. IT
currently has a cylindrical feedhorn with wr-90 ports and w/g feed. I
have the notes where Paul Wade tried them out by directly attaching wr-90
to the cylindrical feeds with little return loss. Paul may still have this
on his website, somewhere?

I am using scalar conical Chapparal feeds for my terrestrial offset feed
dishes. Paul currently lists them with his dual-band feed on his website.
But this is appropriate for f/d ~ 0.6-0.7.

I expect it will be another couple years before I can set up for 3cm-eme.

he was a founder of Chaparral. At the time of his death,Tay was working on
10GHz feeds adapting the Chaparral feedhorn. Prior to his death,
unfortunately I was not paying close attention but he was using one of his
Chaparral feeds with the servo controlled polator to change polarity,to
linear or RHCP and LHCP.I believe he made several 10GHz contacts utilizing
this.Have you heard of anyone else adapting the Chaparral horn to amateur
EME usage? Sounds like a interesting possibility.

used to add a "gold ring" to their feeds to extend the useable F/D range.I
can't find any info on what it physically looked like and apparently it was
discontinued later.Do you have any info?
