[Moon-net] WIN/LINRAD

Hi all
The contest showed me oncemore: I need some equipment that helps to find stations, working in WSJT. 
Lots of stn are using LINRAD or WINRAD. TZhe software is no problem, so what hardware do they use?
I think for a simple system, that is going down from 144 to i.e. 28 MHz and in next step to I and Q.
144 to 28 MHz is no problem. But is there somewhere a homemadable proposal for the next step?
I would be verry appreciated for some input.
