Hi Lee, Dave, and all --
> Is there any logic for transmitting CW using SSB Audio vs CW Keying?
CW is not one of the primary WSJT modes. Since everything else is done
using audio tones and your radio set to SSB mode, this was *by far* the
easiest way to implement CW.
In addition, by using audio-generated CW I can shape dots and dashes
properly (thus minimizing bandwidth) and control their timing
accurately. Doing this with a keyed digital line may be possible under
Windows (including all Windows flavors), but would not be trivial.

If you want to use WSJT in CW mode and key your radio in the normal way
for CW, I suggest rectifying the audio tone and using it (through a
transistor switch) to key a reed relay. The relay contacts then go to
your key jack.

Good question! I wondered that, myself, the last time I fired up WSJT
in CW mode, and saw garbage appearing in the decoded text window.
There is no CW decoder in WSJT. I think I just forgot to tell the
program not to call any decoder. It must be trying to treat the signal
as if it were FSK441, or maybe one of the other modes. ;-)
