We listened on JT65 for awhile today to check out the system. I was
pleased to find my rotator cal was right on the Moon. Usually I have to
have a clear sky to visually check the rotor readout against reality.
I spent some time sorting out which cables went to my computer and what
jacks, etc (WSJT computer interface). I got receive working fairly easy
but could not key the transmitter. After alot of circuit tracing, I
determined that the serial port was not changing state in Tx mode?
Finally, I stumbled onto the fact that my computer somehow changed the com
port config. since last I operated JT65 (last spring). Now all is working
and hope to make some contacts the next couple days as the Moon moves into
favorable position.
I expect to start after 0100utc tomorrow. The Moon rises around 2150utc
but I expect we will be working outside during daylight working on raising
the HF-VHF tower and installing antennas. Also we had a winter storm so
have some digging out to do (hopefully in calm wx). By 0100 (1600-local)
it is getting dark so should be free to work a few stations.
