Interestingly, since the code requirement for 'A' class licencees was dropped in the United Kingdom, there has been an increase in interest in Morse.
  I have even heard foundation class licencees sending very good CW.
  Maybe a case of 'I don't need to do it but what's it all about'.
  Even I (B class licencee) have an interest in CW now that it is not a requirement.

The FCC announced today that Kellogg's Corporation and the Federal 
Communications Commission have signed a pact to issue Amateur Radio 
Licenses on specially marked boxes of Kellogg's Corn Flakes, Rice 
Krispies, Sugar Frosted Flakes, Sugar Pops, and Sugar Smacks.

In this unprecedented move the FCC believes this will not harm 
amateur radio but allow will all individuals to receive an amateur 
radio license without having to demonstrate any skills, with the 
exception of being able to use a pair of scissors to cut out their 
operating permit from the specially marked breakfast cereal boxes.

A Kellogg's spokesperson from Battlecreek commented that Kellogg's' 
executives were proud to have their firm selected by the government 
to be the issuer of licenses for amateur radio in the US and hope 
soon to make agreements with other agencies for the issuance of other 
Federal and State licenses. They also expect to issue certificates of 
achievement for DXCF for confirmed contacts with 100 corn flakers. 
Kellogg's Corn Flakes are the oldest Kellogg's product, which most 
closely coincides with the advent of amateur radio in the early 
twentieth century.

The "snap, crackle, pop" of ambient noises (qrn) on the hf bands will 
take on new meaning with this exciting venture to promote amateur 
radio internationally, Kellogg's and FCC officials affirmed in a 
recent news conference.
