Dear All,
Being almost QRT on the operational aspect (lost half of the antennas
first and now the elevation capability) I finally could address some
new projects.
I have got some time ago (thanks to DF2ZC) the famous digital
elevation readout, interesting on its own but not enough, my goal was
to integrate the acceleration sensor into a PC controlled tracking
system.
At the moment I made a prototype PIC based board communicating with a
PC via a serial comm. The PC hosts a test application (Windows) to
receive the information on the PC and be able to send commands to
control the elevation motor.
I am using the original digital elevation readout to check the
validity of the results and bought an extra MXD2125 to be used as
gravity info pick up, from the compared test I can say i have achieved
the same type of precision
Next step will be the attempt to add in the same board also the
azimuth but since I did not identify yet what type of sensor to use
(potentiometer or Hall Effect encoder) for the moment I postponed the
activity.
I am posting this info to the net because someone else can be
interested in the same, if so, get in touch with me directly and I will
be happy to echange my experience (I am not trying to sell anything).
